We are a small family-owned business in the heart of Park Slope. The business originally started in Bay Ridge in 1987 and had 4 locations. My twin brother and I, started working as flyer delivery boys from age 11 for our uncle and his partner (a family friend) for the same business we now own . At the age of 15 my brother and I started working inside the stores as salesmen, in 2 of the 4 locations the (then) owners of the business had. We decided to go to night school so we could work full time and support ourselves. We continued to work at the store until the age of 17, when we purchased the business (in 1993) from our uncle and his partner (not exactly a mom and pop business, but a true family business) . We added air conditioners, air purifiers, small appliances and a carpet & upholstery cleaning service to our “bread and butter” core business of vacuums and sewing machines. For the most part we are operating at our regular business hours, however it is recommended to call first to make sure. For those who want to enter the store, we have put in place a protective plexiglass shield in front of the cash register among several other practices to keep us all safe.
