Alexander's Artisan Rugs, formally known as Alexander's Decorative Rugs was started in 1991 at the San Francisco Design Center, serving the needs of the architectural and design trade. Going on to open a second location in Mill Valley on November 15th, 1996. Alexander's Decorative Rugs went on to become one of the Bay Area's most awarded rug businesses in Northern California history. A few of the most notable include being awarded the #1 Rug Retailer in the U.S., and Mill Valley Business of the Year in 2000, and voted Best of Marin 7 times. Alexander's Artisan Rugs opened a third location downtown Mill Valley on July 15, 2016. This location Mill location is now the only one open.
