When that store went out of business in 1979 he found himself unemployed, newly married and with a wife expecting their first child. He walked to every apartment complex in El Cajon offering his carpet repair services since he realized apartments want to repair and not replace. Many business relationships were formed that last to this day. When Barry would go to the door and announce that he was there to repair the carpet, he was often greeted by a child that would yell to his mother “The carpet repairman is here!”. That was the birth of a business and a fitting name to match what has become the first and original carpet repair company of San Diego County. Barry became an expert in carpet repair and installation. He has taught classes on how to repair carpet, traveled the eleven western states installing AMC Theatres, became an award winning contractor for Barona Casino.
